Tour itinerary

Day 1
Mud Volcanoes and Reservoir

08:00 – Departure from Tbilisi
We drive to southeastern Kakheti, near the border with Azerbaijan.

11:30 – Registration in Dedoplistskaro: Start of the trip
We complete the park administration paperwork (15–20 min). If desired, we can visit the local museum.
We see real baobabs by the Iori Reservoir and then head to the mud volcanoes. The landscape here looks like another planet: gray-blue clay, bubbling mud, and cracked earth. We drive to Khornabuji Fortress, seemingly floating on the edge of a cliff above the Alazani Valley.

18:00 – Dinner at a restaurant and return to Dedoplistskaro
We check into a guesthouse, have dinner, and rest.

Stops will be made at all scenic spots along the way. Timing may vary slightly.
Day 2
Deserts, Gorges, and Cliffs

10:00 – Breakfast and Departure
We head southwest toward Vashlovani National Park.

12:00 – Exploring the park and stopping at scenic viewpoints
First, we visit Bear Gorge — a narrow, picturesque canyon. Scientists have found remains of prehistoric animals here, including cave bears and even mammoths. Then, we drive to Pantishara Gorge, a spacious canyon featuring the park’s symbol, the “Alesilebi” cliffs. We travel along a dry riverbed and make stops at the most scenic spots for slight walks and photos. We also visit a viewpoint with breathtaking panoramas and have a picnic in the Alazani River valley.

17:00 – Head back to Tbilisi

23:00 – Arrive in the city

Stops will be made at all scenic spots along the way. Timing may vary slightly.
